On May 19, 2004, led by Council Member Bill Perkins of the 9th District in Manhattan, the New York City Council introduced Resolution 367 in support of the Peace Tax Fund Bill. The resolution affirms the rights of conscientious objectors to have "alternative service for their drafted dollars." New York City is the first locality to propose such a resolution. Click here to see the text of the resolution. The New York City Campaign for a Peace Tax Fund is organizing itself around the City Council Resolution.

On June 9th, City Council members will hear testimony in support of Resolution 367 from conscientious objectors, peace activists, promoters of civil liberties, and representatives of religious, peace and community organizations.
